We are pleased to announce that AIA New York State has selected our Star Garment Innovation Center to receive a 2021 Design Award in the International category. The Star Innovation Center is a product development facility located outside of Colombo in Katunayake, Sri Lanka. Planned as a global model for the entire garment industry, the project sets a new high bar for sustainability, energy efficiency and worker comfort. Bestowed annually since 1968, AIA New York State’s Annual Design Awards celebrate local, national and international projects that achieve architectural excellence designed by architects licensed in New York State. |

We are humbled and proud to announce that we have won two design awards from AIA Brooklyn, including International Project and Project of the Year! The BKLYN Design Awards (BKDA) is established by the Brooklyn Chapter of the American Institute of Architects to encourage excellence in architectural design, to make the public more aware of the human-made environment and to honor the architect, owner & builder of significant projects. It is the goal of the AIA Brooklyn chapter to promote its respective members, affiliates, and non member architects through the display of their design and service accomplishments in Brooklyn.

We are proud to announce that JPDA's pioneering Star Garment Innovation Center has received a prestigious AIA New York Design Award in the "Sustainability" category. Juror Mary Ann Lazarus FAIA commented "it covers all the bases when it comes to sustainability in terms of health and wellness, in terms of choice of materials and energy efficiency. It’s really an innovative use of an old structure and defines a new model for the garment industry."

We are happy to announce that we have been honored by Interior Design Magazine and ICFF with the 2018 NYCxDesign Award for our Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center. The project received accolades in the Greater Good category which recognizes achievements in design that directly impact the community at large.

JPDA presents Sri Lanka Passive House project at NYPH Conference ![]() ![]() |

Jordan Parnass presented JPDA's Star Garments Product Development Centre at the New York Passive House conference on June 16th. This project is the sustainable renovation of a factory building in Sri Lanka, which is targeted to receive EnerPHit certification from the Passive House Institute. The presentation detailed the unique challenges of designing, modelling and directing a project of this complexity in a climate that has seen few high performance buildings. Lois Arena of Steven Winter Associates co-presented and discussed many of the project's unusual energy "process" loads, which are related to the industrial fabrication taking place within the facility.
