Tata Corporation, the makers of India's $2500 car, have announced plans to offer affordable housing to the residents of Mumbai.  The lowest of the line is offered at $7300 for 283 square feet, comparable to some of the smaller apartments found in Manhattan.  The development is also being marketed as eco-friendly construction with tree lined streets and low (3 story max) building heights.  I do hope it's as good as it sounds, as this seems like a great way to aide in the transformation of India from third world country to developed nation.
